The beginning of a new chapter!

I have always had an affinity for wood working and making furniture. My grandfather immigrated to the US from Germany back in the 20s.  He had been a furniture maker back in the old country and even though he moved away from his vocation when he came to America he always had a special love for working with wood. Some of my favorite childhood memories are the times when I would spend hours with my grandfather in his wood shop learning how to make furniture. Papa as I called him had a beautiful farm in the Catskill mountains in New York. Not only would I spend hours with him working in the shop, but we would go for walks amongst the mountains where he would teach me about nature and trees and how to tell which trees would yield good lumber to work with. It is in memory of my grandfather and in starting my own wood shop that I am starting this blog. The first project that I will be making is a cutting table I have designed for my gorgeous wife Alisha. Alisha is an incredibly talented seamstress and in our home she has her dream studio. My furniture designs will be for her sewing studio and for my recording studio. So, my next post will be the initial specifics of Alisha's cutting table. Until then, have a great one!
